This is a simple, bottom-up raglan made from (exactly) one gorgeous skein of Wabi Sabi Yarns Tallulah Sock in "to be a fairy in a forest". The idea of tiny babies in grown-up style clothing cracks me up, so I added pockets to add to the overall grandpa look. (As if a baby needs pockets, ha!) I would have done elbow patches, too, but I ran out of yarn.
Ridiculously cute :)
ReplyDeleteIt would look nice with dark brown elbow patches..
Adorable! How about one of your knitted ties to go with it?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of leather elbow patches and the knitted tie ensemble!
ReplyDeleteI detest baby themed baby clothes; this is definitely the style I'll be dressing my kids in...when I have them ten years from now. :-D
Hi Hilary, I have become an avid reader of your blog over the last few months. You have such style! This little sweater is a real cutie. Maybe you could put tiny little leather elbow patches on it? :) Thanks for a great read.
ReplyDeleteHayley.
That is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteadorable. i love grandpa sweaters on grandpas and non-grandpas alike. cannot wait to see it on the model...!
ReplyDeleteOh my GOSH! That's just unbearable. What a great colour, too! It's such a "you" green, so you know it'll be perfect on the little guy!
ReplyDeleteToo stinking cute. You can put his pacifiers in the pockets!
ReplyDeleteHee hee, I love it! Especially your desire to add the elbow patches. Such beautiful yarn too :)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea too. Go little grandpa. lol.
ReplyDeleteI agree with some of the others, a patch on the elbows could still work in another material.
Too cute!
It's adorable!!!! He's going to be so warm and snugly in that sweater :)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy the pickles and ice cream these last few weeks - LOL
Absolutely adorable, Hilary! And isn't it often the case that newborn babies resemble little old grandpas anyway? Your little guy might enter the world with a head full of hair and a mouth full of teeth, but I doubt it... one thing's certain, though - he is sure to be ridiculously cute (especially in this sweater!).
ReplyDeleteOh shucks, this is so cute! I think brown elbow patches would be cute too - Little Grandpa - love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the little pockets! And I can't believe you got a whole cardigan out of one skein - I was sat doing sums in my LYS for aaaages yesterday and ended up spending a fortune on 2 skeins for a cardigan for baby number two (which must be due at almost exactly the same time as your arrival!)
ReplyDeleteThat is so so cute. You could do those elbow patches in some different colour - or even put some leather on it. Then he'll for sure be a sweet little grandpa.
ReplyDeleteSweetest cardi!
ReplyDeleteI sewed my son several Grandpa bathrobes. I love to play with fabric linings to have some plaid peeking out from the collar and pockets.
I feel terrible that 3rd baby only got knit socks...;)
He has been so rough with his clothes I've waiting 9 years to knit him a sweater, yee!
So cute! I love the little pockets. Have you seen the Master Charles sweater pattern? I think you'll like it -- elbow patches galore. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh! I love it! I want to wear it, lol.
ReplyDeleteYou will have one stylish baby!
It's super cute! I love the grandpa look too!
ReplyDeleteOh that is SO adorable! Now all he needs is elbow patches and little glasses! So cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat sweater! I love babies in miniature grown up clothing! great choice. I think elbow patches in some brown fabric or felt would be great but it is super cute without.
ReplyDeletewhat a perfect little cardi!! You could always do contrasting elbow patches, but it's so sweet the way it is. Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! As they get older and you add pockets, you will likely find food in those pockets. And toys. But mostly food. :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the little one! :D
Oh my goodness, adorable!! I love that you call it a grandpa sweater. Cute little grandpa! Almost makes me think of Benjamin Button, haha. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat sweater! I really like the colour
ReplyDeleteSO adorable!
