Res Completa: Summery Silk Scarf

For what feels like forever, I've been wanting a pale, dusty pink, light scarf, preferably one that could be worn in the summertime. I've searched in shops and online to no avail and for some reason could never find the perfect shade of yarn to make one myself (actually, I found the perfect shade in Malabrigo and Yanabey, but those yarns were much to wooly for even a San Francisco "summer"). Until this years' Stitches West, when I came face to face with the perfect shade of pink in the perfect summertime yarn in the Tess' booth.



Pattern: #13 Drop-Stitch Scarf by Laura Militzer Bryant, from the Vogue Spring/Summer 2009 issue
Yarn: Tess' Designer Yarns Raw Silk, about 3/4 a hank (650 yards)
Needles: US 5 circs (I think)
Start to Finish: March 12-June 28 (What's crazy to me is that I remember knitting this on the way to my 40 week prenatal appointment. That feels like a decade ago.)

Mods: I did 7 repeats of the square pattern to widen the scarf a bit.
Finished dimensions: 19" x 80"



This was a fun pattern (dropping stitches feels so...dangerous), though I'm realizing that I find scarves a little boring to knit (this coming from the woman who designed a shawlette that requires Stockinette over one bazillion stitches for several inches). I felt like I had been knitting this thing forever yet still had, like, two feet to go. But I'm happy I stuck with it. It's airy and breezy and I love the way the yarn is slightly crisp but still soft. I like it bunched around my neck as well as tied once with the ends hanging down. I think it's nice as a wrap, too.
