Res Completae: Aquatic Prayer Shawls

Last week at the beach, Jo and I both finished the prayer shawls we had been working on. They're both aquatic to me, mine being mossy, and hers reminding me of the ocean...blue and green stripes and foamy white popcorn stitch sections.

Pattern: 52 stitches of Roman Stripe for about 40"
Yarn: 1 skein of mystery terry-cloth yarn from the craft store. I don't think it even came with its informational band.
Needles: US9 Clover straights
Start to Finish: August 3-10, 2007

Notes: It sure is nice to knit something meaningful and to know that it will go to someone who needs it.

I got a package in the mail from Jo yesterday, part of which was an article in the Turlock Journal about this specific prayer shawl ministry. A big part of it is the fellowship the ladies share when they get together every Tuesday to knit their shawls (it started as just a knitting group and they decided to put their skills to use making prayer shawls). My favorite quote is at the end of the article:

"The women will be the first to say that their global idea of spreading good will and love always begins within the walls of the cozy living room.
'If one of us drops a stitch, someone else is there to pick it up.'" :)
