Res Completa: February Lady Sweater

Or June Lady Sweater, for when I made most of it? Or August Lady Sweater, for when I'm posting about it? Either way, how on earth could I resist such a green sweater??

Pattern: February Lady Sweater, by Pamela Wynne
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy, 3 hanks of Happy Forest
Needles: US 8 circs and dpns
Notions: 3 vintage wooden buttons
Start to Finish: June 17-July 6, 2008

Mods: My only modification was an unintentional one, being that the yarn grew, like, a LOT and my sweater body and sleeves turned out around 4 inches longer than what the pattern appeared to call for. Ok, I admit, I did not do one lick of swatching for this sweater, nor did I even look into the post-washing properties of the yarn. Terrible, I know. I hang my head in shame.

Notes: That said, I do like the sweater quite a bit. It's not quite as swingy as I'd like, but it's got a long-lacy-summer-cardi thing going on that's good for San Francisco. I'm quite happy with the buttons, too. I found them at the same antique store where I got my favorite green dress and they just happened to work well with the yarn. I did snaps on the undersides instead of buttonholes because my first attempt at making a buttonhole was unsuccessful and I was too impatient to keep trying...

I LOVED working with the Dream in Color Smooshy. What a delicious yarn. It's soft and squishy and gorgeous and smells nice, too! Unfortunately, one of my three hanks didn't exactly match the other two, so the top half of the sweater is a little darker and yellower than the bottom. What I should have done was alternate skeins as I was knitting, but of course I didn't think of that until it was too late.

I adore the whole idea of this sweater -- taking such a classic as EZ's February Baby Sweater and turning it into an adult-sized version? Baby knits as trendy wardrobe items? Genius.

Looks great.....yes that dream in colour grows which was a good thing for me as I made a size smaller than my measurements!

I like the longer version (even if it was accidental) - in fact, I'd been resisting this pattern because I didn't think it was quite my style, but now I kind of want to make a long one.

Dammit. This pattern gets everyone eventually, doesn't it.

I knew that was Happy Forest. Great job. I love the long length on you.

the length is perfect for your long torso! the color (again with the kelly green, eh?) looks fabulous on you. gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!
i think i've narrowed my DIC color choice to gothic rose and happy forest. i have both colors in DIC smooshy for socks, so i really need to decide and get to ordering!

I don't typically crave green things - I love to look at them, just don't usually want - but you are officially turning me into a convert. I love the colors you choose! And so perfect for this sweater! The stretching (unintentional as it was) did you good - the length looks great. Beautiful!

So beautiful! I love the green. The name of the yarn is awesome too. How could you not be happy with that on?
The Dream in Color is defo on my faves list. Such a perfect yarn! (I must remember to give it a sniff when I get home).
The sweater looks lovely on you (of course, you always knit fantastic patterns!)

It's really really lovely and fits you like a dream (no pun intended)! No swatching - tisk tisk - but in this case it all worked out for the best!

So pretty - I am personally thrilled to hear that the sweater grows:) Only because mine will be awful short...I did read if you toss it in the dryer, it shrinks back to shape a bit. But I think your is perfect, I like the length.

That green is stunning!

I like how long you knit it too - even if it was a happy circumstance.
