Patternum Novum: Turntable

As I mentioned yesterday, for the recent TNNA trade show, I teamed up with Anzula to create a design using two of their brand new colors for Winter. The colors I chose were Gravity, a lovely silvery gray, and Sexy, the most perfect brown you've ever seen. The fact that I chose the two neutrals out of the bunch was somewhat of a surprise to me, but once I paired them up I just couldn't get them out of my head. I thought they would make great graphic stripes, bold enough to stand on their own - no ruffles, no lace, just garter stitch, a circular shape (my favorite), and good stripey contrast. What resulted was Turntable, a wrap that reminded me of a record with all of its grooves spinning around, and that (I think) is great for both men and women alike.

Turntable is extremely cozy, with enough width to wrap it entirely around the torso. But my favorite way to wear it is wrapped a few times around the neck, either scrunched up (as on Neill, above), or more flat, as below. Depending on how you wear it, the stripes play off each other in different ways, showing more or less of a certain color.  I love that.

I love it! Now, if I can convince my boyfriend that he needs one of these in his life... I get to buy myself more Anzula! Ooo... Anzula. I love the new colours, and think your pattern is a great way of introducing them to the knit world. Thanks for posting this! I've suddenly got the urge to break out my LPs.

Wow, what a great shawl, and so unisex! You don't often see dudes wearing them, but Neill looks awesome in it, very on season. Amazing!

Hilary, this is gorgeous! Already added it to my favorites on Ravelry. Might have to find the time to knit this sometime in my future.
